The two cameras take very different design approaches. The GO Ultra uses a horizontal layout, similar to the Osmo Action series, while the Osmo Nano adopts a vertical design. The Nano’s camera module attaches to its base using dual clips and magnetic mounting.

In terms of weight, they are nearly identical: Osmo Nano: 52g,GO Ultra: 52.9g. If you consider the full setup, DJI’s system is slightly lighter, but in practice both cameras are pocketable and easy to carry.

Both camera modules are waterproof down to 10 meters, while the companion modules are splash-resistant only (IPX4).

Screen

The GO Ultra’s screen is one of its biggest advantages. It is larger, more responsive, and adjustable, making it significantly more practical during shooting. You can tilt or reposition it depending on your shooting angle—something the Osmo Nano cannot do.

One important detail: both cameras feature detachable lenses. If the lens is damaged, you do not need to replace the entire camera—only the lens module.

The Osmo Nano offers 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, plus support for microSD cards up to 1TB.

DJI’s advantage here is convenience: internal storage allows you to start shooting immediately. Insta360, on the other hand, offers greater maximum capacity if you already use high-capacity cards.

According to official specifications, both cameras have the same battery life when connected to their docks. When used alone, the Osmo Nano lasts 90 minutes, and the GO Pro lasts 70 minutes. When the Osmo Nano is connected to the Vision Dock, and the GO Ultra is connected to the Action Pod, their battery life both increase to 200 minutes.

In real-world testing, the Osmo Nano’s battery life closely matches DJI’s claims. The GO Ultra, however, tends to fall slightly short of its advertised runtime.

Charging

Charging speed is where the GO Ultra shines. It can reach 80% in 12 minutes and fully charge in 20 minutes.
The Osmo Nano takes about 20 minutes to reach 80%.

Both are fast by any standard, but if you often run out of power during critical moments, the GO Ultra gets you back to shooting faster—at the cost of slightly shorter overall battery life.

Overheating

User reviews and forums mention overheating for both cameras. This is not surprising: prolonged 4K recording in thumb-sized cameras inevitably generates heat.

Most users experience recording interruptions due to depleted battery power rather than overheating. Overheating may be related to the camera's recording settings.

Both cameras support similar resolutions, but there are differences in slow motion.

It is worth noting that Osmo Nano’s 4K/120fps mode does not include stabilization, making it less practical for movement-heavy scenes.

Image Quality

For photographers who value post-production flexibility, the Osmo Nano stands out with its 10-bit color and higher photo resolution, making it well suited for color grading or pulling stills from video. Its SuperNight mode performs well in low light, although it is limited to 30fps.

The GO Ultra takes a different approach, relying on AI-driven PureVideo to deliver brighter low-light footage with minimal adjustment. This makes it a more efficient option for creators who prioritize fast, ready-to-share content for social media.

Shooting Modes

Both cameras cover the essentials, but the GO Ultra offers a richer feature set. Notable modes include:
